How to Arrive at Your Consultation

Clean hair, no product, and a few photographs. The half hour before your appointment decides most of what happens in it.

How to Arrive at Your Consultation

Every appointment here begins the same way: a consultation, in natural daylight, before anyone touches a brush. It is the most important part of the visit, and it is the part you can prepare for.

Come with clean hair, and nothing in it

Arrive with completely clean hair and no product. Not because we are precious about it, but because product and residue hide the things we most need to see. Your true texture, your real condition, the way your color sits now.

Daylight does the rest. Salon light flatters; daylight tells the truth. We would rather begin from the truth.

Bring pictures, more than one

Bring a photo of the color you envision. Then bring a few more: shades you have loved before, on anyone, from anywhere. Two people can say "natural blonde" and mean entirely different things, and a photograph settles it in seconds.

Old photos of your own hair are the most useful of all. They tell us what suits you, and what your hair has already been through.

Tell us the unglamorous parts

How long you actually spend on your hair in the morning. Whether you air-dry. How often you are realistically willing to come back. What you have had done before, even if it was a box at home, especially then, because color history changes what is possible.

None of this is a test. It is how we design a visit around you rather than around an image.

What we will tell you

If what you want will not keep your hair healthy, we will say so, and offer the way there. Our guiding philosophy is less is more, and that occasionally means fewer changes today for a better result in three months.

We do not use chemical smoothing treatments such as keratin. We use and recommend Milbon, and we will send you home knowing exactly how to care for what we have made.
